Moors and Christians Festival

Every 24 June, coinciding with Midsummer's Eve, Alcázar de San Juan transforms into a medieval stage with the Moors and Christians Festival. Knights, corsairs, archers, almogávars, janissaries and Templars take to the streets in a spectacular historical re-enactment. The climax is the assault on the tower, followed by the solemn ceremony of dubbing knights. Battles between sides, crossbow competitions, a medieval market with craftsmen and taverns, and an impressive fireworks display make this night an unforgettable experience that transports visitors several centuries back in time.
