Palace of the Grand Priors / Prior's House
Period: Siglo XVI
The Palace of the Grand Priors, also known as the Prior's House, was the official residence of the highest dignitaries of the Order of Saint John in the Priory of La Mancha. Its imposing Renaissance façade, articulated with finely carved ashlars, displays the heraldic shields of the successive priors who governed this vast territory from Alcázar. The building is organised around an inner courtyard and preserves original 16th-century architectural elements that attest to the power and influence the Order wielded in the region. Together with the Tower of the Grand Prior and the Palace Chapel, it forms the most important monumental complex in the city — a living testimony to the political and religious significance Alcázar de San Juan held for centuries.
