Camino de Villafranca and Las Yeguas Lagoons

The Camino de Villafranca and Las Yeguas Lagoons are seasonal salt wetlands forming part of the Alcázar de San Juan Lagoon Complex. Their landscape is dominated by extensive glasswort meadows and white salt flats that create a scene of austere and singular beauty. In spring and autumn they host flamingo colonies and other migratory birds that find food and rest here. A 12 km route, suitable for both walking and cycling, allows visitors to explore both lagoons and enjoy the vastness of the La Mancha plain.
