Casa del Hidalgo Museum
The Casa del Hidalgo Museum occupies the so-called Casa del Rey, a noble 16th-century manor transformed into an innovative museum dedicated to the figure of the La Mancha hidalgo. Through its rooms, the life of those gentlemen of scant fortune and great honour who served as inspiration for Miguel de Cervantes to create his immortal Don Quixote is reconstructed with historical rigour and narrative sensitivity. The tour combines original pieces loaned by Spanish museums — furniture, clothing, weapons and everyday objects — with audiovisual and interactive resources that make the visit enjoyable for all audiences. Each room transports visitors to the 16th century: the kitchen, study, bedroom and courtyard faithfully recreate the domestic atmosphere of the period. It is an essential visit for understanding the social and cultural context from which the greatest novel in world literature was born.
